Greetings from Sakata Group on its 110th anniversary
Thanks to the support of our customers, Sakata Group celebrated the 100th anniversary of its foundation on April 1, 2012.
To commemorate this occasion, we have prepared “Sakata Group’s 110 Years of History” on our website.
In addition, as part of our 110th anniversary commemorative project, we have posted a video introducing the Tatebayashi Interchange Warehouse of Kanto Sales Office, which was newly established in February 2023, on our official YouTube channel.

Sakata Group’s 110-year History
Our company was founded in 1914 in Kema and Tomobuchi villages in Settsu Province (present-day Miyakojima Ward, Osaka City), the birthplace of Yosa Buson, famous haiku poet of the mid-Edo period.

Our company name “Sakata” is derived from the trade name “Sakata” of the coastal shipping business operated by our predecessor in the Edo period. During the turmoil at the end of the Edo period, we had no choice but to temporarily close the curtain on our business. However, in 1914 (Taisho 3), the company changed its trade name from “Sakata” to “Sakata” and resumed water transportation business on the Okawa River (formerly the Yodo River), which branches off from Kema Lock Gate to Nakanoshima, and this is the origin of our company today.

From the time of our founding to the early Showa period, we were commissioned by customers in the sugar and spinning industries for water and land transportation, coastal cargo handling, and in-plant operations, and we made progress. After the war, however, our company was severely damaged, and we managed to recover and revive by receiving various jobs such as transportation of heavy cargo, machine dismantling and installation, processing and refining of cinder for lightweight concrete, and contracting for construction work.
In 1953, the company changed from a sole proprietorship to a corporation. Since then, we have been strengthening our warehousing operations, and in 1971, we introduced our self-developed warehouse management system, and in 1988, we were the first in the industry to introduce a digital picking system. In recent years, we have been entrusted with 3PL operations by customers in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, medical equipment, electrical, IT, and industrial equipment fields.

We will build our own warehouses in Minoh in 2019 and Tatebayashi Inter Warehouse in 2023, and strive to create and provide new value to all of our stakeholders, including our customers and other related parties.
