Changes in the Logistics Environment

In recent years, the business environment for logistics has changed significantly. This trend is particularly evident in transport and delivery, necessitating the consideration and promotion of measures such as shared delivery.

Changes in the Logistics Environment

Severe driver shortages will continue to drive up freight and labor costs.

The transport industry faces a noticeable driver shortage due to an aging workforce and labor scarcity. Large carriers and parcel delivery companies are expected to continue requesting freight rate increases.

Customers’ demands for delivery quality are increasing.

Damaged or soiled packaging during delivery leads to claims, as customer expectations for quality rise. The focus has shifted from mere “delivery” to quality management: “clean, on-time, and damage-free.”

Management must focus on long-term social needs and business development

Commitment to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) is gaining attention.

We believe that promoting shared logistics and delivery contributes to solving social issues, as evidenced by our certification under the Logistics Efficiency Act (CO2 reduction in transport).

Common Requests (Cosmetics)

To address logistics challenges in the cosmetics industry, we propose our “Logistics Platform Service” to achieve efficient center operations and reduce environmental impact.

Delivery efficiency is poor; we want to consider shared delivery with competitors. (Manufacturers)

We need to support direct delivery to salons and their individual customers. (Manufacturers)

In-house inventory management is difficult, and salesman delivery has reached its limit. We need a specialist. (Small/Medium Distributors)

We want to operate with minimal stock without running out of products. (Small/Medium Distributors)

We want to supply products to all our stores efficiently. (Large-scale Salons)

OEM/ODM production inventory is overflowing; can it be stored at your center? (Manufacturers)

Can you handle sales support and simultaneous delivery of promotional items during salon deliveries? (Manufacturers)

Platform Overall Image

The following image illustrates the collaborative logistics achieved through our platform.

  • Sakata Warehouse “Logistics Platform Services” focuses on:
  1. Electrical and Industrial Machinery (Parts, control devices, electronic components, etc.)
  2. Cosmetics and Medical Devices (Professional/consumer cosmetics, healthcare devices, etc.)

We will closely monitor these industries and promote horizontal and vertical collaborative logistics among multiple manufacturers and wholesalers—from managing order intake, shipping instructions, and transportation and distribution data through a shared logistics information system at our information center, to joint warehousing, cargo handling, and value-added processing at our “shared warehouses/logistics centers,” as well as joint collection from suppliers and joint delivery to customers.

Logistics Platform Features

Based on our “Shared Warehouses”, we drive cost reduction and quality improvement through vertical and horizontal collaboration in storage, handling, processing, packaging, transport and logistics information,.

  • Our “New Shared Storage” (similar to VMI) reduces inventory and prevents stockouts while offering collaborative handling, processing, and packaging.
  • “New Shared Delivery” from suppliers to warehouses and from warehouses to salons reduces freight costs and improves transport quality.

Our “Information Center” provides systems for orders, inventory, and transport management.

  • Our mobile-compatible “Web Ordering System” for salons streamlines order processing and related administrative tasks.
  • We also provide in-house WMS/TMS, “Standard Shipping Label Systems,” and “Shipping Inspection Systems.”

Service Quality and CO2 Reduction

Sakata Shared Delivery / Salon Shared Delivery services reduce risks of misdelivery, delay, and damage through container transport and dedicated direct delivery for distributors and salons in the cosmetics industry. By consolidating goods from multiple shippers, we reduce vehicle usage and CO2 emissions.

Shared Delivery Image

By consolidating shipments and using direct routes, we reduce vehicles and improve unloading efficiency for salons. Our dedicated Salon Shared Delivery includes:

1. Courteous delivery service provided by dedicated salon staff wearing business-style uniforms and name tags
2. Eco-friendly practices (collecting boxes/bags, reducing cushioning).
3. Thorough implementation of operational management and safety training, including the appointment of a “Light Goods Vehicle Safety Manager” to maintain daily operational records.

Shared Delivery and Value-added Services

Beyond delivery, we offer value-added services such as “Environmental Support,” “Sales Support,” and “Reporting” for all stakeholders.
