Over 100 Years of Experience

Greeting

Our group was founded in Taisho 3 (1914) in Kema Village and Tomobuchi Village of Settsu Province (present-day Miyakojima Ward, Osaka City), the birthplace of the mid-Edo period haiku poet Yosa Buson. Thanks to your support, on April 1, Reiwa 6 (2024), we celebrated the 110th anniversary of our founding.
As part of our 110th anniversary commemorative projects, in February Reiwa 5 (2023), we newly established the Kanto Sales Office and the Tatebayashi Inter Warehouse.
Since our founding, we have been engaged in business in the fields of textiles, sugar manufacturing, and construction, and after the war in chemicals, cosmetics, food, and pharmaceuticals. In recent years we have continued our business in areas such as electrical equipment, IT, and industrial machinery. We owe this entirely to the generous support of all of you, for which we express our deepest gratitude.
Once again, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks.
In this year of the Wood Dragon, we keep in mind that “we must break away from old customs and outdated practices and move forward with innovation. By proceeding patiently and carefully toward our ideals, we can achieve growth.” With this in mind, we will continue striving to become a company that can serve everyone.
We sincerely ask for your continued support and patronage.
An auspicious day in April, Reiwa 6

110 Years of the Sakata Group

Origin of the Sakata Group

The place of our founding is present-day Miyakojima Ward, Osaka City.
“Sakata” originates from the trade name “Sakata”
used by our predecessors in the coastal shipping business during the Edo period.
In 1914 (Taisho 3), the former trade name “Sakata” was changed to “Sakata (阪田)”
and the water transport business began on the Okawa River (former Yodo River)
under the name “Sakatagumi Tanaka Shoten.”

From the time of founding to the early Showa period (pre-war)

From the Taisho era to the early Showa period, our major clients were
large sugar manufacturers and spinning companies,
and we undertook inland and maritime transportation, coastal cargo handling,
and on-site operational services for our customers.【Photo Source】
